The Role

Join Nedbank's specialized trading technology team as a Front Arena Developer, where you'll work with one of the financial industry's most sophisticated trading and risk management platforms. As part of our Financial Technology team, you'll collaborate with traders, risk managers, and quantitative analysts to develop, customize, and maintain Front Arena solutions that enable complex financial instrument pricing, portfolio management, and regulatory reporting. This position is ideal for a developer who wants to specialize in financial technology while working with cutting-edge trading systems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and customize Front Arena modules for trading, pricing, and risk management functionality
  • Create and maintain complex financial instrument definitions, pricing models, and trading workflows
  • Build custom reports and dashboards for traders, risk managers, and regulatory compliance teams
  • Implement automated data feeds and interfaces between Front Arena and external market data providers
  • Develop Python scripts and extensions to enhance Front Arena's native functionality
  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts to implement complex pricing models and derivatives calculations
  • Support daily trading operations by resolving system issues and implementing urgent fixes
  • Perform system testing including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for custom developments and system configurations
  • Participate in system upgrades and migration projects for Front Arena platform evolution
  • Monitor system performance and implement optimizations for high-volume trading environments
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users including traders and operations staff

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Finance with technical focus
  • 2+ years of experience with Front Arena platform development and configuration
  • Strong programming skills in Python, particularly for financial applications and automation
  • Understanding of financial instruments including derivatives, bonds, equities, and foreign exchange
  • Knowledge of financial markets, trading processes, and risk management principles
  • Experience with SQL database programming and data modeling for financial data
  • Familiarity with AMBA scripting and Front Arena's native programming environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex financial calculations
  • Experience with market data feeds and financial data integration
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting trading systems and reporting

Nice to Have

  • Front Arena certification or formal training in Front Arena development
  • Experience with other trading platforms such as Murex, Calypso, or Bloomberg AIM
  • Knowledge of quantitative finance concepts and derivatives pricing models
  • Experience with real-time trading systems and low-latency requirements
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks like Basel III, IFRS 9, and MiFID II
  • Programming experience in C++, Java, or other high-performance languages
