The Role

Join Eskom's Application Operations team as a Manager Information Systems Support, where you'll lead a dynamic team responsible for the development, implementation, and support of critical information systems that power South Africa's electricity infrastructure. This M16-level position offers the opportunity to manage resources cost-effectively while providing specialist skills for both new and existing information systems developed for Eskom's various lines of business. You'll be at the forefront of supporting the company's Operating Model and ensuring seamless IT operations across the organization.

Working within the Engineering Cluster at Eskom's Megawatt Park headquarters in Sunninghill, you'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and IT professionals to deliver robust information systems solutions. This role requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on technical expertise to ensure optimal system performance and user satisfaction.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and lead the Information Systems Support team to deliver high-quality services aligned with business objectives
  • Provide strategic oversight for the development, implementation, and maintenance of information systems across Eskom's business units
  • Ensure cost-effective resource management while maintaining optimal service delivery standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify system requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Monitor system performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency
  • Oversee project delivery timelines and ensure adherence to quality standards and compliance requirements
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all information systems and processes
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of information systems
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party service providers for optimal value delivery
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members to foster professional development
  • Implement best practices for system security, data integrity, and disaster recovery
  • Report on system performance metrics and provide regular updates to senior management

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in information systems management and support
  • Proven track record in leading technical teams and managing complex IT projects
  • Strong understanding of enterprise information systems architecture and infrastructure
  • Experience with business process analysis and system integration methodologies
  • Excellent project management skills with certification in relevant methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and optimize resource allocation
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements in the utilities sector
  • Leadership experience with ability to motivate and develop team members

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree in relevant field or MBA
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sector
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise resource planning systems
  • Certification in ITIL, TOGAF, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with cloud technologies and digital transformation initiatives
  • Understanding of power generation and distribution systems
