Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in complex cases, utilizing advanced assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, protocols, and policies.
- Act as a clinical expert and resource for nursing staff, providing mentorship, education, and support in a specialized area of practice.
- Conduct and/or participate in nursing research and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and other healthcare team members to ensure integrated and comprehensive patient care.
- Identify and address educational needs of nursing staff, developing and delivering relevant in-service programs and training.
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance clinical expertise and leadership skills.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic nursing initiatives within Netcare Hospitals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant professional, ethical, and legal standards of nursing practice.
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patient and family education and involvement in care decisions.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current and valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Master's degree in Nursing (MN) with a specialization in a relevant clinical area (e.g., Critical Care, Oncology, Paediatrics).
- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive clinical experience in a relevant specialty, with at least 2 years in a leadership or advanced practice role.
- Demonstrated expertise in a specialized clinical area, evidenced by advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, oncology certification) where applicable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and educate nursing staff.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Familiarity with quality improvement methodologies and research principles.
- Proficiency in using hospital information systems and other relevant technology.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
